Hi there!
Coming to you from a cold UK. This entry is a wonderfully mixed one and as mentioned is only a small part of what we got up to this day!
Read on to check out what we got up to in the morning and please do pop over to the facebook page to ask questions and leave comments as I really do appreciate hearing from you.
We were heading into the main reserve today as I had noted the weather was due for a good morning and I was hoping to catch up with good old Malika and the Marsh pride.
Our luck held and we started off with a wonderful encounter with a Jackal family, something you really do not see every day…
Great fun to have them approaching the vehicle so closely and take as much of an interest in us as we were of them.
We decided to leave a little earlier than I may have done otherwise as the light as still good and Malika had been in this area recently, so we hit the road track.

Pretty much every guide I have worked with in the Mara rates the Saddlebill Stork as one of their favourites.

It’s easy to see why. Stunning bird!

BINGO! Back with Malika again. She was one of the first cats I ever photographed in the Mara all those years ago and it is a real treat to see her thriving with cubs.

Cheetahs are often great posers as they like higher spots such as this mount to get a better view of the plains. Malika is amongst the best of these!
Fantastic to see her and the cubs running around. Always a highlight of a visit to the Mara.
We then made our way to the nearby “Lookout Point” to see what was around. This is an amazing vantage point and great for surveying the Wildebeest.
Our view from Lookout Point showed that the Wildebeest were still on the backfoot from the confusing storms the Mara was experiencing. We subsequently made our way to a shaded spot for our picnic breakfast and had some good sightings of the supporting cast on the way as you can see. Check back next time for the ongoing updates and to see how we got on in the afternoon!
Thanks for stopping by folks, if you have been enjoying these posts please drop me a line on Facebook or twitter as I love getting your messages and it spurs me on to do more. Questions on any aspect of the trip welcome too! There is plenty more to come so check back often.
We also have some places February 2015 Big Cat safaris. So if you fancy seeing it all for yourself and improving your own photography CHECK OUT THE DETAILS! We are now in the time where our unsold tents can be taken from us due to booking conditions from the camp, so please don’t hesitate if you are interested.
As always, thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed.
Richard.
