And we’re off!
Feels wonderful to be back in the Mara and just sat here after our first evening drive quickly looking through the images from the day.
Lions of course as well as some extras. The Lions are calling to each other as I type and it feels magical as this place always does. Wonderful to see Darren, Emma and the guys again and my guest are a real pleasure to share the plains with.
Well, this is a photography blog after all, some pics. Please forgive the brevity of the text today. The heat/travel/early starts has hit me hard. A good night’s sleep tonight and I’ll be up to speed I’m sure!

Great Elephant numbers this year.

One to watch out for. Buffalo are definitely to be avoided at all costs on foot. Grumpy doesn’t do them justice.

This anxious male was repeatedly having his advances rejected by the female who, though tolerant, was clearly not in the mood.

Our first Big cat of the trip. A great spot from Charles and shows how well camouflaged they can be in the long grass.

Having just made a kill (a large Warthog) she was panting and clearly exhausted.

Clearly to tired to put up a real fight the nearby Hyenas took a chance and moved in. The first time I have seen this. Lion and Hyena eating together.
