02 – First afternoon, Africa Live 2013 Migration

Hi all!

Firstly, apologies for the lack of blogging whilst actually out in the Mara! A super busy schedule and internet issues prevented me from blogging. Well I am back in the UK now and will be retrospectively updating here with our activities day by day!

Our flight into the Mara was a good one, first airstrip dropoff was ours at Ol Kiombo. A short transfer, quick unpack and lunch later and we were ready for our first drive!

It was a little more crowded for me squashed up in the front as I am testing some new setups and combinations moving forward with my equipment. The Nikon 1 V2 with FT-1 adapter is the main target of testing this time around. I was also due to test the new Nikon 80-400 AF-S but Nikon were unable to get me one in time. Stay tuned later for a review of this promising lens!

The conservancy we work in, Olare Orok is well known for a few of it’s star Leopards so we head off to the area we know they are in and as luck would have it we found our first star, Fig!

Last time I had many requests come through for camera details on each image. As you can see in the interest of helping you all out I have watermarked them with the core items. Hope this helps you out.masai mara africa workshop - buffalo

Great to locate Fig and we will certainly be heading for her in the morning tomorrow whilst we have the chance; then moving on to chasing the migration. There is a build up on the Tanzanian side, so it will certainly be a challenge but that only makes us work all the harder for everyone!

Check back tomorrow for more and thanks!
