And we’re back with the latest blog update!
It was our last morning here in the Mara North conservancy and after a loud night’s raining we got up at our usual time; ready for the Mara slip ‘n slide!
Benja and George were fantastic at negotiating the troublesome black cotton soil ground in the cars and we made our way to a mobile Acacia pride.
As you can see, the Mara plains were sodden with water which made for slow(er!) going over the ground. I was with Benja that morning and he performed fantastically.

It had obviously been a long night for them and they settled down in an clear spot as soon as they found one.
And with that we arrived back at Mara camp in time for lunch before half the group. Jen, Brett and Helen were heading back to the airstrip for the journey home. Was a real pleasure as always guys!!!!! 😀
After a sad goodbye to the group I made my way over to Olare Motorogi Conservancy (formally Olare Orok) to meet up with the rest of the group who had gone ahead by request via Patrick who made the special trip over the night before to facilitate this.
Huge thanks at this point to Colin, Sammy and the whole Mara Camp crew for making us most welcome at our home away from home! A pleasure to be hosted by you and everything was great! Of course super thanks to our illustrious guides Benja and George who delivered everything I need and much more. THANKS!
And with that it was off to see friends Darren, Emma and the whole Bush camp crew. I have come to know the well there and always look forward to catching up with them each trip. Wonderful people!

One reason I use the D800 is for its cropping ability. The birds were VERY hard to get close to this time and the extra resolution really was handy.
It was a real treat to see Fig out and about in the conservancy. We could have called last September’s trip the Fig show. I always enjoy following the cats as they live their lives over the months.

Our first Leopard in the conservancy and on the first drive! Fig, our star Leopard from last September.
And with that the light faded and we made out way back to camp for a hot shower and slap up meal.
Thanks for reading folks!. Please do head over to facebook and/or twitter if you have any questions or just to say hi. I really do appreciate it!
Richard.
